Instagram is a great platform to display your work, or your interests. It is driven primarily by images but they’ve added longer video time for you to upload a video and even go LIVE as another option for engagement.  Because we are in a competitive world on social media, it is imperative for you to be seen in a bigger way.

One of the ways to attract an increase in your following “organically” is to have a great Bio. When I say organically, this means to get followers that genuinely desire to follow you by their own free will. They aren’t bought.

Having a great Bio or profile is one of the components that helps a potential follower to decide whether to click and follow you or to keep on scrolling.

Your Bio should be a quick, easy to read summary of your main reason for having a page. If you are in business, then having your page designed in a business fashion can help increase traffic to you. Listed are 5 ideas that could entice your potential followers to click and say yes to following you!

  1. Professional Profile Picture. Selfies are trendy, but when you are serious about promoting your business, having a professional image will speak louder when it comes to people seeing you as a business professional. Your Bio image will say to the potential follower that you’re not just another social media participate. You want to grow your business and you desire quality clients, looking the part is not an option but a “must do”.
  2. Summary of what you offer. Giving a brief, easy to read summary of what you do, can provide the would be follower information on what you’re all about before they scroll through your images. Do not force them to try and figure out what it is that you do.
  3. Use Emoji’s. Emoji’s are great attention grabbers. They can highlight the volume or emotion of what you are saying about yourself.
  4. Contact Info. I can’t tell you how many profiles I have scrolled through of beauty professionals in business and there is no contact information. I understand if you don’t want to publicly display your phone number or personal address, but, at least designate an email specifically for potential customers to reach you. Don’t rely wholly on direct/inbox messages or messages left in the comment section. You should provide many ways for someone to reach you directly.
  5. Provide Links. If you have a website or landing page, providing a link is another way a potential customer can click to learn more about you and what you do. If you have links that are long, you can use short links to replace them.
